New South Florida Beach Culture Digital Magazine Debuts

Sponge Magazine gives readers taste of the ‘soak it up’ lifestyle with The Welcome Issue out now on www.SpongeMag.com

Delray Beach, FL, October 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Sponge Magazine is a free digital publication that brings readers a piece of South Florida beach culture in, on, and off the water by combining and celebrating art, music, water sports and an everyday lifestyle influenced by the ocean.

Founder and Editor, Allison Lloyd, explains, “The concept of the magazine grew out of a love of the ocean and its positive forces. The ocean continues to inspire and influence lives in great ways. At Sponge Magazine, they’re featured with the recognition they deserve, bringing a glossy style feel to the local level.”

The Welcome Issue, released October 4, does just that, capturing life as a competitive lifeguard, and up and coming beach volleyball team, and those compelled to bring good vibes to the world through music, art, tree seeds, a secret recipe, or a killer party.

“Beach life is sometimes more in-depth than most people think. There are amazing things happening all around us, but never reach the spotlight. Sponge Magazine is needed in South Florida to connect and preserve our beach culture, while the environment around us continues to change,” says Lloyd.

The digital magazine format promises to offer much more than the typical page turner, inviting readers to interact with the content, while catering to advertisers’ needs to reach more readers (advertising available now for the January 2011 issue). The digital format also leaves a minimal carbon footprint in line with the company’s belief for eco-friendly practices.

The companion website, www.SpongeMag.com, offers visitors even more dynamic content, including web exclusives, photo galleries, events, and surf report and forecast modules. Sponge Magazine, covering Palm Beach to Miami-Dade county, will be released 10 times per year through www.SpongeMag.com and various digital magazine websites.
