DAMA International Promotes Data Management in South America – Welcome to DAMA Brazil

Washington, DC, October 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- "Walking in the door, I was impressed by the one-hundred plus data management professionals attending and their tremendous hunger for knowledge. DAMA International is excited to support our community as we grow onto a new continent with the inaugural meeting of DAMA Brazil. Starting a chapter in Brazil has expanded our world-wide presence," stated Dr. Peter Aiken, President of DAMA International.

DAMA International Brazil Chapter will foster insight, alignment and community throughout the entire South American continent. They encourage the Data Management practice adoption, theory development, and education beyond their chapter members; supporting those industries that are directly or indirectly impacted by continuous improvement and awareness of managing data as a business asset. Leveraging the DAMA Guide to the Data Management Body of Knowledge, this organization will bring information about all functions of the data management practice – data governance through business intelligence.

“DAMA’s Brazilian Chapter will work in the whole South America to fulfill IT professionals’ need for developing comprehensive data management knowledge and competence to capture, organize, process and use properly the multiple, diverse and complex data we deal with each day both in personal and corporate lives. It will be done through certification programs, activities such as seminars and workshops, as well through partnerships with local universities, book and magazine publishers and other related organizations. It’s important to announce that we’re structuring a big Data Management Seminar planned to be held in São Paulo city in the second half of 2011,” said Mr. Rossano Soares Tavares, the President of the DAMA Brazil Chapter. As part of this new chapter, DAMA Brazil will not only capture and fulfill these tactics with it’s vibrant culture as an undercurrent, but actively find ways to enhance it’s work across programs and forge more international and continent-wide collaboration.
