IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 to Explore Advance of Communications That Increase Global Quality of Life
Thousands of Scientists, Academics and Government Officials to Attend International Event Held from 6 – 10 December 2010 in Miami, Florida
New York, NY, October 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- IEEE GLOBECOM 2010, the premier telecommunications event for industry professionals, academics, companies and government agencies from around the world, will host its 53rd annual conference from 6 – 10 December 2010 at The Hyatt Regency Miami in Miami, Florida. Themed “MIAMI: Moving Into the Age of Mobile Interactivity,” IEEE GLOBECOM will host more than 2,000 presentations dedicated to the ongoing advancement and deploy of global communications technologies designed specifically to increase the quality of life worldwide and provide a myriad of solutions for everyday people.
Expected to attract thousands of international researchers, scientists, developers and government officials, IEEE GLOBECOM is now considered one of the world’s premier communications events. Since its inception in 1957, IEEE GLOBECOM attendees have joined with peers and colleagues from around the world to greatly expedite the introduction and implementation of the entire range of voice, data, image, and multimedia technologies.
Beginning on Monday, December 6th, this five-day international forum will begin with a full-day of tutorials and workshops dedicated to topics ranging from “Cognitive Radio & Adaptive Wireless Communications Systems,” Wireless MediaNets” and “Biologically-Inspired & Nano-scale Communication & Networking” to “Femtocell Networks,” “Broadband Wireless Access,” “Pervasive Group Communications” and “Smart Communications and Network Technologies.”
On the following day, IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 will proceed with the first of three days of keynotes, plenary speaker presentations, technical symposia, business & technology forums, awards and exhibits designed to explore the entire range of communications technologies. Among the highlights will be the plenary addresses of such noted international experts as Prof. Ian F. Akyildiz of the Georgia Institute of Technology, who will address attendees on “NANONETWORKS: A New Frontier in Communications;” Dr. Philip A Chou of Microsoft research, who will speak on “The Future of Human Communication;” and Prof. Andrea Goldsmith of Stanford University, who will discuss “The Road Ahead for Wireless Technology: Dreams and Challenges.”
Rounding out the conference’s plenary track will also be nearly one dozen sessions dedicated to the newest research and advances in urban sensing, wireless networking and multimedia communication. During these presentations, more than 25 of the world’s leading scientists representing companies and organizations such as MIT, University of Edinburgh, Princeton University, Intel Labs, Microsoft and Raytheonwill discuss subjects like “Towards Glitch free Multimedia Communication,” “A Glimpse of Future Wireless Communications,” “What is the Next Generation Internet,” and “Seamless Mobility in Wireless Networks: Are We There Yet?”
Held simultaneously with many of these events will also be the conference’s Business & Technology Forum, which will explore the latest innovations in IPv6, 4G wireless, cloud computing, intelligent transportation and communications upgrade funding techniques across eight different sessions. Another highlight is the forum’s presentation titled “Mobile Telephony & its Economic Impact,” which will be hosted by Dr. George F. McClure, the former president of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, and include insights from leading researchers based in the United States, France and Japan.
In addition to these forums, IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 will offer a wide selection of more than 300 technical sessions ranging in topics from energy saving and power control protocols, cognitive networking, cognitive radio design, beamforming and dynamic spectrum access to cross-layer designs, deep space networking, routing, security, channel estimation & modeling, cooperative communications and network performance optimization.
Following these presentations from Tuesday through Thursday, which will also include a Young Professional Program dedicated to personal advancement and the demonstration of hundreds of new applications and innovations, the conference will officially conclude with another full day of workshops and tutorials on Friday, December 10. Explored in these sessions will be topics like “Next Generation Mobile Applications,” “Smart Grid: A Communications Perspective,” “Networks of the Future,” “Optical Wireless Communications,” “Mobile Computing & Emerging Communication Networks” and “Web and Pervasive Security.” For more information on IEEE GLOBECOM 2010, please visit www.ieee-globecom.org/2010 or contact Heather Ann Sweeney of the IEEE Communications Society at 212-705-8938 (h.sweeney@comsoc.org), or Dr. Kia Makki, Executive General Chair of IEEE GLOBECOM 2010, at 305-588-8191 (kia.makki@gmail.com).
The IEEE Communications Society has over 40,000 members and is the second largest of IEEE’s 38 technical societies. Founded in 1952, it has become the major international forum for the exchange of ideas on communications and information networking.
