Debt Shield Donates to Friends of the Family and United Way of Central Maryland
Debt settlement company employees support two local charities through employee-driven fund and voluntary donations.
Columbia, MD, January 17, 2007 --(PR.com)-- This month, Debt Shield employees donated to two charitable organizations: Friends of the Family and United Way of Central Maryland.
Friends of the Family works with community-based organizations, local residents and public and private donors to support local families with young children. They focus on goals related to children’s health and intellectual, social and emotional well-being as well as parents’ education, employment and parenting skills.
United Way of Central Maryland works to improve the lives of Marylanders by targeting the root causes of the most difficult problems facing Maryland residents.
“Both of these organizations focus on accomplishing real, tangible goals for Maryland communities,” said Director of Talent Development Jill Strider. Strider, a Friends of the Family board member since 2005, knows firsthand the positive effect philanthropy has on communities in need.
Strider said the company is proud that its employees regularly contribute money to the Denim Fund.
“We wouldn’t be able to give back to the community as often as we do if it were not for the generosity of our employees,” said Strider.
Debt Shield employees contribute weekly to the Denim Fund in exchange for wearing jeans to work on Fridays. Friends of the Family and United Way are the 22nd and 23rd charitable organizations to receive donations from the fund since it was started in March, 2005.
