Sonitrol Pacific Security Turns Smash-N-Grab Into Smash-N-Arrest

Portland, OR, October 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Police arrested two teens suspected of smashing a store’s glass door to grab inventory inside after Sonitrol Pacific’s audio security sensors detected the break-in October 19.

Sonitrol Pacific Operator Jessica Culver received an impact-activated audio sensor alert from the main show room at Outer Rim about 11:30 p.m.; sounds of glass breaking were followed by yelling and Culver dispatched Portland Police. Culver continued to listen to live audio inside the store while officers were en route. She heard people running, sounds of riffling through things, and the intruders talking about the security system being on and the need to hurry up. She heard them leave the store. Culver kept police informed of what was happening.

Officers arrived at the store within five minutes of Culver’s initial call and used a police dog to track down and take into custody two suspects. According to officers, the two broke the store’s glass front door and grabbed various items inside.

According to the store’s owner, the two teens are in the store often.
