Harbinger Knowledge Products Honors Fife Company for Milestone in Using eLearning Software for Training Program
Redmond, WA, October 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Five years ago, Morris Mutal, the training coordinator for Gensco, was researching ways to augment the Fife-based HVAC wholesale distribution company’s training program of traditional classroom style learning by incorporating online education.
Mutal understood that the distribution and manufacturing company didn’t easily lend itself to formal classroom courses since many of its employees were on the road a lot or worked in one of their 26 stores in 5 northwest states. Yet they worked in a fairly technical business and required continuous training to keep up with the latest products, services, or processes.
After researching a variety of eLearning software products, Mutal chose Elicitus, developed by Redmond-based Harbinger Knowledge Products. He liked the ease of use and how quickly he was able to develop compelling, interactive curricula. Since his first class, Mutal has seen the development of 250 courses for 20,000 Gensco attendees using both Elicitus and Raptivity, another of Harbinger’s eLearning products.
Last week, executives at Harbinger gathered to honor Mutal and Gensco for reaching that important training milestone. Vikas Joshi, chairman and managing director of the Harbinger Group, and Seema Chaudhary, president of Harbinger Knowledge Products, presented Mutal with an engraved plaque, flowers and chocolate.
“We’re very proud to be able to recognize Morris and Gensco for this outstanding accomplishment,” Chaudhary said. “Morris has achieved tremendous results at Gensco by using Elicitus and Raptivity in his training programs, and we’re excited to be a partner in the company’s success.”
“To be successful in education and training, you have to truly engage learners,” Mutal said. “Both Elicitus and Raptivity help us do just that, and they’re easy to use. You can create fun, engaging, interactive courses without knowing programming or how to create Flash animations. You are really only limited by your imagination.”
Mutal said the online training programs offered a number of benefits to Gensco. “We wanted to add a consistent training message to all of our team members, 24/7,” he said. “Team members can take this training at their convenience, saving the company time, travel, and money. Plus there is the opportunity to easily revise courses and learners will always have the latest version. Online training provides this like no other form of training. “
Elicitus and Raptivity were used to create a wide variety of employee training courses covering products, sales, customer service, human resources (including health and wellness and management procedures), safety, new employee orientation, processes and technical procedures training. More than 50 different topics were covered in 250 courses.
Gensco is one of the few companies in its industry to have moved toward online training courses, Mutal said. The feedback from managers within Gensco has been outstanding. “They’ve seen a big improvement in knowledge gains,” Mutal said. Now, other companies are calling to learn more about Gensco’s approach to training.
