High Adventure with a Twist of Wit in Debut Novel: Track of the Jaguar, by Kate Stephens

Houston, TX, October 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Author Kate Stephens today announced the release of Track of the Jaguar, A Samantha Connor Novel, published by Outskirts Press. Stephens’ debut work places pilot Samantha Connor in the jungles of Belize, amid dangers of drug trafficking and antiquity theft, to follow up on the one clue to her father’s murder: a mysterious metal coin with an imprint of the Mayan hieroglyph for Balam, the Jaguar god.

Samantha Connor -- who goes by “Sam” -- is a pilot and the owner of a successful general aviation company, Connor Air Services. After her apartment and her business office are broken into and trashed, and her otherwise normal life interrupted, she learns that her father, the noted Mayan Archeologist Sir Walter Connor, has been murdered in Belize.

There are rumors his death is tied to drug trafficking and antiquity theft, but when Sam mysteriously receives her father’s field notebook in her office P.O. box, with a clue taped inside, she decides to go to Belize in search of answers. As she’s leaving, handsome DEA agent Lee Grant shows up with some questions of his own and Sam agrees to let him come along.

Their first night in Belize City, however, is almost Sam’s last, and she hasn’t even run into the man called El Puño, “The Fist,” yet.

Track of the Jaguar is the first in a series of action and adventure novels featuring Samantha Connor, a character developed by author Stephens while she was working in Hong Kong. Stephens is currently working on the second book in the series, The Leopold Succession.
