Browns Ladders Launches Nationwide Safety Training Courses
Innovative ladders company, Browns Ladders, is pioneering safety a new idea to help reduce deaths and accidents in the workplace.
Brierfield, United Kingdom, October 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Innovative ladders company, Browns Ladders, is pioneering a new idea to help reduce deaths and accidents in the workplace.
The Lancashire-based company is providing safety awareness courses - which are designed for companies who frequently use ladders or scaffold towers.
The courses have been hailed by industry experts as key to reducing on-site incidents.
There are seven in total, including safety at great heights, using equipment such as roof ladders, step ladder safety and first aid training.
They are accredited by national bodies such as the British Ladder Association and take place on-site.
"The idea comes amid fears that America’s blame and claim culture is becoming a prominent feature of British society," said a spokesperson at Browns Ladders.
To emphasise the point, Browns Ladders have referred to a court case in which a school caretaker successfully sued Hampshire County Council after he was injurer falling off a step ladder.
Anthony Gower-Smith fell off a six foot high stepladder at Awbridge Primary School in Romsey 2004 - suffering a fractured skull.
In court, the 73-year-old caretaker, Anthony Gower-Smith, claimed his employer did not teach him how to use the ladder.
Although the council denied negligence Mr Gower-Smith won the case because the court ruled the council were ‘75 per cent to blame’.
He claimed £50,000 - with the London’s High Court judge saying his training was deficient.
Browns Ladders says accidents in the workplace will be significantly reduced by attending their training courses - and it will not be possible to sue employers.
The courses all last a full day and reflect the requirements of the Work at Heights Regulations - giving appreciation of the hazards and measures required to control the risks associated with the use of ladders and stepladders.
By providing on-site ladder inspections nationwide, plus ladders and scaffold tower Training courses, Browns Ladders helps company to comply with the current regulations
Browns Ladders offers a wide range of ladders across the UK for industrial, trade and domestic markets. It also provides specialist equipment such as wooden loft ladders, extension ladders, roof ladders, multi purpose ladders, vehicle access ladders and surveyor ladders.
