Egress Switch Offers Deep Content Inspection to Help Automate the Detection of Sensitive Data
Next generation collaboration software expands portfolio to include policy based content scanning to help protect outbound information.
London, United Kingdom, November 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Egress Software Technologies, an innovator in secure data exchange, announced today the availability of Egress Switch 2.2. This latest version incorporates key features to enable organisations the ability to scan outbound content and apply policy based rules designed to automate the protection of confidential data.
Sharing information securely remains a complex and challenging issue. Research shows that successful implementations consistently demonstrate integrated security that enables administrators to define policy centrally as well as customise end user capabilities locally.
Highlighted new features include:
· Deep Content Inspection
The Egress Switch Client now supports policy based content inspection of information sent by email, uploaded to FTP/Cloud Servers, or copied to removable media. Customisable rules can be defined centrally based on file type, size, classification, or content and the appropriate security applied transparently to any data leaving the organisation.
· Configurable Email Header Text
When sending encrypted emails and attachments the email header text and images are now fully customisable in order to satisfy any branding requirements.
· Integrated MS Office Application Support
Expanding on a ‘single click’ mantra to sharing information securely, Egress Switch now supports sending encrypted information directly from MS Office applications including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
· Message Decryption Notification
When encryption is removed from an email message (where permitted) a new header is added displaying the precise time and date when the message was originally decrypted.
· Improved Usability
A number of minor enhancements have been made to the Package Library to improve performance and make viewing and searching packages easier.
“Our customers continue to tell us that DLP products are still too complex and offer little to prevent third parties from mishandling data,” said Tony Pepper, CEO for Egress Software Technologies. “By combining deep content inspection with our award winning secure collaboration service, Switch customers can rest assured that their information is protected throughout its lifecycle.”
Delivered as a hosted service to guarantee rapid deployment and low cost of ownership, Egress Switch enables users to encrypt information in a single click, protecting data wherever it resides. Pepper continues, “Our rapidly growing customer base pays tribute to the innovation behind our patent protected software. Operating in a market defined by compliance yet driven by convenience, Switch continues to prove that security can be embedded into day-to-day business communication without the need to install costly infrastructure.”
Egress Switch offers complete protection of outbound data regardless of file size or transport mechanism. Using AES 256-bit encryption, Switch secures confidential information sent by email, copied to USB removable media, burnt to CD/DVD, or uploaded to FTP/Cloud Servers. Access privileges can then be modified or revoked in real-time, even after the information is sent or shared. This allows users to instantly ‘pull information back’ should there be evidence that data has been lost or mishandled.
Egress Switch also offers data classification and customisable disclaimer notifications, making email encryption, media encryption, and large file transfer more secure and easier than ever. This next generation level of control, combined with integrated workflow features, mitigates the risk of unintentional data loss and enforces recipient responsibility when handling confidential information.
