Süddeutsche Zeitung Goes Live on the Atex Polopoly Web Content Management System
Reading, United Kingdom, October 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Süddeutsche Zeitung, a leading German newspaper with a daily circulation of more than 440,000 copies and a readership of 1.6 million people, is live with sueddeutsche.de on the Atex Polopoly Web content management system. Sueddeutsche.de is one of the most important news websites in Germany with more than 160 million page impressions per month. Süddeutsche Zeitung is using the Polopoly Web CMS in conjunction with its Atex editorial content management system to manage print and digital workflows. This converged publishing model helps Süddeutsche Zeitung streamline content production and generate new online revenue through an increasing number of digital channels.
“Süddeutsche Zeitung was in need of a Web CMS and Atex had the technology that we needed,” said Carsten Matthäus, now Managing Editor of Süddeutsche Zeitung, and previously Managing Editor of sueddeutsche.de when Süddeutsche chose Atex. “Integrated with our editorial system, the Atex Web CMS allows Süddeutsche Zeitung to break the barriers between publishing channels and to establish variable workflows, where editors have immediate access to all content; no matter what product we use to deliver the news.”
The implementation of the Atex system took nine months and involved the integration with Süddeutsche Zeitung’s photo archive, text archive, and the Duden Proof Factory spell check engine. These integrations were crucial in allowing the publisher to retain systems it had already purchased and that its staff had experience using.
“The project is on budget and on time. We have migrated one of German’s biggest news sites within a time frame of eight months. When the project is finished, we will have managed a perfect transition in less than one year for up to 700 users to the Atex multimedia and multichannel system,” said Dietmar Wallner, Project Manager at Süddeutsche Zeitung.
