Adelphi University Will Host the MWE Long Island “College Accounting Challenge” and Its Accounting Students Will Compete in a Quiz-Show-Style Event
Garden City, NY, October 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP, a leading accounting and business advisory firm, knows what it takes to be a great CPA, and has set the stage for local college seniors majoring in accounting to demonstrate that they do, too.
On November 10, 2010, MWE will be sponsoring the third Margolin, Winer & Evens Long Island “College Accounting Challenge,” hosted for the first time at Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center (AU PAC) Concert Hall, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The quiz-show-style event will pit five teams of four representing Adelphi University, C.W. Post, NYIT, SUNY at Old Westbury, and Molloy College against each other in a fun and healthy competition. Newsday columnist, Fox News Channel political analyst, and comedian Ellis Henican will serve as the host, posing challenging accounting questions testing the students’ knowledge in their chosen field.
The buzz is already starting on these five competing campuses to see which Long Island college will gain bragging rights for the best and the brightest accounting students. The winning school will receive a commemorative trophy and each team member will win a $300 American Express gift card. Hundreds of students, faculty, friends (and school pep squads) are expected to attend and to cheer on their teams.
“It is a thrill to watch these future CPAs compete each year,” said MWE Managing Partner Teddy Selinger. “They are the best and the brightest that Long Island has to offer and we are proud to sponsor an event where they can showcase their knowledge.”
