The Boot Band Expands More Than Just Boots

New York, NY, November 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Krista Barnett, a Black-Iranian mom, wife, CEO and plus-size inventor has the fashion world talking about a product that enables all women to wear boots – the Boot Band (www.bootband.com), the only product on the market that expands the width of tall-length boots for larger calves. Modestly priced from $55-$90, the Boot Band makes a grand impression in O, The Oprah magazine ‘Own Your Power’ October 2010 issue.

Barnett knows first-hand that many women are not a size 6, and like her – are curvaceous and sexy who want to wear the latest fashion. She realized that the options for purchasing tall-length boots were limited for those who had large calves. After divine inspiration from God, Barnett created the prototype for the Boot Band in 2007.

Her true “aha” moment came during a visit to the mall for some retail therapy and although her venture was unsuccessful in finding a boot to zip over her “ample” calves --- the Boot Band was borne. “For many women not being able to make a purchase can compromise spirit, value, and posture. With the Boot Band women can wear the boots they choose and re-define their power while being trendy,” says Krista Barnett.

According to a study conducted at the W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, Associate Professor, Naomi Mandel states, “We found that overweight consumers demonstrated lower self-esteem – and therefore probably less enthusiasm about buying products.”

Eager to offer the Boot Band to these underserved consumers, Krista Barnett states, “I began designing and developing a product that would enable women to walk into any store and purchase boots right off the shelves and bolster self-image and esteem instantaneously. No longer will women who have large calves feel excluded from mainstream fashion.” With a 19-inch calf, Barnett now owns a closet full of designer boots, ranging from Christian Louboutin, Prada, Coach, Michael Kors, Nine West, Payless and Juicy Couture.

The Boot Band is equally an investment, which allows the customer to use the expander on any other boot with the same zipper. They are available in half-calf and full-length sizes, and because of numerous requests, extra-wide Boot Bands are now available for women who have calf sizes of 20 inches and larger.

The response for the Boot Band has been through the roof; the (website) www.bootband.com received an impressive 50,000 plus hits after launching a few weeks ago. Barnett is emotional with pride and declares, “The feedback has been heartfelt and women have expressed their deepest gratitude for this product because their frustration is over and the Boot Band has allowed many to feel ‘normal’ and inclusive.”

Barnett is no stranger to the media – she has appeared in the popular newspaper Long Island Newsday and on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch once seen on CNBC. “I am a Southern gal with gigantic dreams and a fantastic support system. My husband, Kirk, has been my ultimate supporter and partner and this ride would not be possible without his belief and contribution,” cries Krista Barnett.
