Waterford, Ireland, November 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Medical and Sports Professionals Welcome the Introduction of the FastForm ® - Thermoplastic Wrist Splint, a Pioneering Solution for the Treatment of Common Injuries Such as Contusions, Fractures and Wrist Problems.
Irish based Fastform Research Ltd., announce the launch of a pioneering alternative to traditional gypsum and non-custom-mouldable orthoses, ‘The FastForm ® Thermoplastic Wrist Splint.’ Developed and patented after intense R&D and a series of comprehensive studies, The Fastform ® Thermoplastic Wrist Splint overcomes many of the traditional problems associated with conventional casting and splinting materials. Unique selling points include: -
FastForm casting products are biodegradable, simple, fast and easy to apply and conform perfectly to limbs being treated.
The open aerated design of FastForm products, integrated with highly breathable hi-tech padding, ensures that the patient’s skin is dry and comfortable. This reduces unpleasant odours, itching and risk of skin maceration.
FastForm’s splint products feature a volumetrically adjustable system that can be easily adjusted, even after custom moulding, to fit the patient’s limb snugly ensuring maximum comfort throughout the healing phases. This feature is ideal to compensate for an increase or decrease in swelling of the injured limb.
The volumetrically adjustable feature also means that a cast saw is not required to remove FastForm products when healing is complete.
FastForm’s casting products are water resistant, allowing patients the freedom to shower and even swim, where determined suitable by the practitioner.
FastForm’s products are made from a lightweight, yet extremely strong polymer, making it more convenient and comfortable to wear, thus reducing tiredness of the injured limb.
Health care professionals using FastForm products expect to reduce treatment costs by up to 40%, and offer patients an accelerated and more comfortable healing experience.
Robert Pierce from the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA), UK commented, “The costs of goods is not the only factor taken into consideration when evaluating new systems. An increased baseline price can be offset if it offers significant cost savings in other areas. FastForm’s system sounds excellent.”
“For the last two years I’ve dreamed of a material that could do what the FastForm product does; now it’s reality” Says Blake Holt, OthoTech at the US Naval Medical hospital, Balboa, San Diego.
