DPR Construction Receives "Best Green Building Project" for San Diego Regional Headquarters by California Construction Magazine
The statewide competition annually recognizes construction and design excellence in Northern and Southern California.
San Diego, CA, November 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- DPR Construction’s (DPR) San Diego regional headquarters was recently recognized as the best “Green Building” in Southern California in California Construction magazine’s Best of 2010. The statewide competition annually recognizes construction and design excellence in Northern and Southern California.
DPR’s San Diego office will be featured in the December 2010 issue of California Construction and honored at an awards ceremony on December 1 in Long Beach. In addition, the winners will be entered in the National Best Of 2010 competition and judged against winning entries from other regions.
“Our San Diego office was designed to create an atmosphere that respects both our staff and the environment by utilizing sustainable practices,” said Jay Leopold, regional manager of DPR Construction. “Our open office space, natural lighting and ventilation systems are just a few attributes that make our building unique. We are honored that our new office has been recognized by our industry peers.”
The 24,000 square foot DPR regional headquarters was designed to be Net Zero Energy and is pursuing LEED™ platinum certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. The office incorporates natural ventilation, day lighting systems, low-flow plumbing fixtures, solar panels, skylights, glass roll-up doors and roof monitors. In addition to utilizing high recycled content materials in its framework, the building’s 64 kilowatt photovoltaic system was designed to generate enough power to offset its annual energy consumption.
The DPR office was judged based on entry criteria including project management and client service, safety, design and functionality. Each year, an independent jury of industry experts in design and construction judge nominated projects in a variety of categories sorted by project type. This year, the publication received more than 135 nominations and recognized 27 projects in Southern California and 26 projects in Northern California as award winners. Eligible projects were located in California and were substantially completed in the past year.
