Re Gifts Eco-Friendly Gift Shop Inspires Change Through Gifting
Minneapolis, MN, January 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- No, this is not the place to bring your unwanted gifts! “Re Gifts” gift shop, opened four months ago, hoping to redefine the Seinfeld-ian phrase coined by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character Elaine. The “RE” in Re Gifts stands for recycle, reclaim, reuse, re-purpose, and reduce… all mainstays of south Minneapolis’ newest green gift boutique.
“We started Re Gifts to show how easy it is for one person to make a positive environmental difference. When you buy or give a gift from our shop, you’re sending a message that says 'let’s be mindful of the waste we create and the resources we take for granted.' There ARE alternatives to buying from a big box store without sacrificing quality and style.”
- Tina North, Re Gifts owner
Family owned and operated by local actors, Tina and Ryan North, Re Gifts sells a variety of gifts like clocks created from bike parts, soy and beeswax candles, books and cards printed on recycled paper, frames made with computer circuit board, purses made from vintage fabric, natural bath and body products, art, metal sculpture and more – all created by artists, companies, and organizations who work with recycled, reclaimed, organic, and natural materials.
Most of what you see on Re Gifts shelves could have ended up in land fills. Not to say that the shop has a junky or garage sale feel – quite the contrary. The gifts are new, innovative, and smack of unbridled creativity. There is no lack of inspiration when you shop at Re Gifts. In fact, the store’s owners hope that along with making a purchase, each shopper walks away, inspired to take a closer look at what is considered trash.
Adopting a greener lifestyle can seem overwhelming, but the choices are out there. Most of us realize the need for environmental change. If you haven’t started making changes yet, perhaps you can begin with where you buy your next gift.
