NuTune Simplifies the Adoption of Silicon Tuners in TVs with Its NXP Based "Silicon Tuner in Can" Range
NuTune selected NXP Semiconductors to drive the adoption of Silicon Tuners used for Hybrid TV applications. NuTune will use Silicon Tuners from NXP Semiconductors in their next generation Silicon Tuner in CAN which is big on performance, small in size, and low in price.
Singapore, Singapore, November 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- NuTune, a major supplier of RF Tuner Modules for TV and Set-Top-Box applications and NXP Semiconductors, a global leader in Silicon Tuner technology, announced today that they will cooperate closely to drive the adoption of Silicon Tuner technology into Hybrid TV Applications with Silicon Tuner in CANs.
“While Silicon Tuner performance today meets the stringent requirements of Hybrid TV, implementing and optimizing the Silicon Tuner directly on the TV motherboard remains a challenge not all TV manufacturers are ready to take,” Mr. Lim Kui Yong, NuTune’s TV Product Line Director explains. “Using NXP’s Silicon Tuner IC for multi-standard hybrid TVs, NuTune has developed a family of fully RF-tested Silicon in CAN modules with best-in-class performance that are reliable, small-sized and easy to apply. Our Silicon in CAN solution will minimize direct-on-board implementation risk while optimizing the performance of Silicon Tuner ICs, shortening the Time to Market,” Mr. Lim adds.
“NuTune is a key partner for any TV manufacturer who wishes to take the next step into the world of Silicon Tuners,” Mr. Olivier Harquin, Senior Director and General Manager, Terrestrial Front-End Product Line at NXP Semiconductors, explains. “Silicon Tuners in CANs realize the bridge between the conventional CAN Tuner approach and Silicon Tuner on Board. This approach is bringing the advantage of smaller size and lower system BOM cost compared to conventional CAN tuners, with a very fast time to market. NuTune has been in the CAN tuner business for a long time and its RF expertise in providing a CAN tuner based on our Silicon Tuner IC will help most TV companies to make this transition,” he adds.
NuTune is currently promoting the FK1600 Tuner family, available to the Global TV market. These modules are fully RF tested, small-sized and each comes complete with connector and shield.
Samples are available now for USD2 per unit for quantity size of 10,000 units.
