ThinkGeo Releases Map Suite 4.5, a Major Update of Its GIS Software Development Components
Built-in support for OpenStreetMap, .NET 3.5 Client Profile and Silverlight 4.0 highlight the many new features and enhancements in this major update to ThinkGeo's Map Suite family of GIS software development tools.
Frisco, TX, November 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- ThinkGeo has released version 4.5 of Map Suite, its full line of GIS software components for .NET developers. This major milestone refresh brings new features, improved performance and the latest technology to the entire Map Suite family, chief among them built-in support for OpenStreetMap.
With the new version, GIS developers can now display OpenStreetMap data natively using the Map Suite map control for .NET. OpenStreetMap provides comprehensive, crowd-sourced geographic data that is free of licensing restrictions and costs, making it an ideal and affordable way for developers to add maps to their software projects using Map Suite.
In addition, Map Suite Silverlight Edition has undergone a platform upgrade to Silverlight® 4.0, enabling use of the latest Silverlight features from Microsoft®.
Other enhancements in Map Suite 4.5 include support for the .NET 3.5 Client Profile, new sample applications designed for Microsoft Visual Studio® 2010, new overlays, performance enhancements throughout and numerous bug fixes, many of which were identified or requested by members of Map Suite’s extensive user base. Complete change logs are available at the ThinkGeo Wiki (http://wiki.thinkgeo.com), the company’s official online source for Map Suite documentation, reference and learning material.
The 4.5 update includes new builds of all of Map Suite’s major editions, including Desktop, Web, Silverlight, WPF Desktop, Services and WMS Server Editions, as well as the Map Suite Geocoder, World Map Kit and other Map Suite extensions. This is the second major milestone release of Map Suite in 2010, and puts ThinkGeo on track to unveil the next-generation Map Suite version 5.0 in May of 2011.
