Vincy Options Acquires Neptune Networks to Expand Intrusion and Malware Detection Capabilities
Vincy Options announced acquisition of Neptune Networks, which entails expansion of company’s research capabilities for IDS/IPS and Malware Detection.
Geneva, Switzerland, November 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Vincy Options, (http://vincyoptions.com), the largest commodity trader in Switzerland, who operates in 12 countries on more than 70 exchanges, today announced that it has acquired Neptune Networks in a deal that was actually completed back on September 14, 2010.
The acquisition expands Vincy Options’ research capabilities further into intrusion and malware detection, allowing the company to work with the community on developing Intrusion Detection System (IDS) signatures for Snort and other open source tools. Vincy Options has an existing partnership with DragonFLY, makers of the open source SPOT intrusion detection and prevention software.
Neptune’s core technology was developed at the University of Lausanne through support from the High Tech Science Foundation, the Army Research. That work resulted in four patents, licensed exclusively from the university. Through the acquisition Vincy Options will get exclusive rights to Neptune’s technology including its patents. Nathanael Muhr, CEO and founder of Neptune Networks will become Vincy Options’ Chief Scientist.
As part of the acquisition Vincy Options also gains a Spidernet system that acts as an interface to IP reputation and signature generation and captures information on malware attacks that the company will share with the global security community.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
