Minneapolis, MN, November 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- FlyingWord, Inc. (www.flyingword.com), an eBook innovator announced Wednesday that it will release the first-ever interactive 3D audiobook: Treasure Island, The Experience. Designed for the iPad and iPhone, the app book includes a 7-hour audio performance with voices, special effects, and original music synchronized to the original text. These features are combined with rich 3D graphics, animations, and interactive elements.
"The iPad makes it possible to read a book in a completely new way. Never before could a reader choose to switch back and forth between reading a book and listening to an audiobook seamlessly without loosing their place. Leveraging the outstanding graphics capabilities of the iPad we created a 3D experience that envelops readers in this classic story," said Joe Weber, FlyingWord chief executive officer. "We've created a 3D environment that feels completely natural, doesn't involve the use of special 3D glasses and fades away from the reader to allow them to focus on the words whenever they want."
"The story of how we created the images for Treasure Island is also unique," said Richard Monson-Haefel, FlyingWord chief executive producer. "Working with permission from the University of Minnesota, Children's Literature Research Collections we were able to create new high resolution images from 8 first edition books published from 1902-1913. After restoring these amazing illustrations we further enhanced them into a complete 3D pop-up experience allowing modern readers to see a whole new side of this classic work of fiction."
"Our books are experienced through three of your five senses: Sight, Sound and Touch. The implications of this technology for children with disabilities, and senior citizens with diminished eye sight is tremendous," said Joe Weber "Readers not be able to focus on a book for extended periods of time can now choose to increase the font size, read for an hour, then turn the audio-book on and continue. For those children who are more visual learners they can turn the text off completely, listen to the audio-book and navigate these classic illustrations in 3D."
Treasure Island, The Experience includes 34 original music compositions created and performed by Andrew Osano, as well as 7 hours of one of the greatest Treasure Island audio narrations ever by Glenn X. Goa.
