ATEN Launches New 8/16-Port Dual Rail LCD KVM Switch
The CL5808/CL5816 8/16-Port Dual Rail LCD KVM Switch combines innovative space-saving and advanced functions for centralized server room management.
Taipei, Taiwan, November 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- ATEN International, a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced connectivity solutions introduces the new 8-port and 16-port Dual Rail LCD KVM switches - CL5808 and CL5816 of its Slideaway™ product line. These KVM switches feature Dual Rail 19-inch LCD monitors and keyboards with built-in touchpads. The CL5808/CL5816 allows access to multiple computers from two PS/2 or USB KVM consoles. An extra console port is provided at the rear panel enabling users to manage the LCD KVM switch from an optional external console. Users can quickly and conveniently switch computer access with pushbuttons located on both keyboard and monitor modules.
The CL5808/CL5816 supports both PS/2 and USB keyboards and mice. A single CL5808/CL5816 can control up to 8 or 16 computers. As many as 31 additional compatible KVM switches can be daisy chained together, so that up to 256 or 512 computers can all be controlled from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse console. There is an additional USB port on the front panel to connect peripheral devices such as flash drives, CD-ROM drives, etc. USB peripherals can be used to install software and OS patches, or make system backups to computers connected to the installation from the CL5808/CL5816. For those who prefer using an external mouse, there is also an extra USB mouse port.
Selecting and switching between target computers is achieved very conveniently and quickly with the station and port selection pushbutton switches located on the keyboard modules. Even when the keyboard module is in the retracted position, users can still switch access with the Port Up/Port Down pushbuttons located on the monitor module.
With ATEN's cutting-edge Dual-Rail design, the CL5808/CL5816's 19” LCD monitor and keyboard/touch pad modules can slide independently of each other. To maximize server room space, the keyboard can be stored away when not in use and the server status can be monitored continuously with the monitor slide out even with the rack doors closed. The LCD monitor rotates back 120 degrees against the rack for comfortable viewing.
"Increasingly complex IT infrastructures in today's businesses demand powerful solutions that provide flexible, convenient and centralized server room management," says Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. "Our new CL5808/CL516 integrates the latest LCD KVM technology in dual rail housing with advanced technical features to meet the uncompromising requirements of enterprise implementation."
A special broadcast mode lets users effectively send a command from the console to all the connected computers simultaneously. This function is especially useful for operations that need to be performed on multiple computers, such as performing a system wide shutdown or installing/upgrading software. With hot plugging supported, users can add or remove computers without having to power down the switch. Port names are automatically changed and reconfigured when the station sequence is changed.
Installating Slideaway™ LCD KVM switches is simple with a host of optional rack mounting kits available to suit your needs and requirements. The Single Person Easy Installation Rack Mount Kit simplifies the rack mounting process, allowing a single person to get the switch on the rack in minutes. Hardware security is available with provisions to keep the console drawer locked away when not in use. Of course, there is also two-level password security to restrict access for authorized personnel only.
