Connecticut Concert Ballet Announces 2010 Performances of the Nutcracker

Connecticut Concert Ballet continues a 36-year tradition with its announcement of performances of the full-length Nutcracker in the Greater Hartford, CT area.

Manchester, CT, November 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The non-profit Connecticut Concert Ballet continues a 36-year tradition with its announcement of performances of the full-length Nutcracker. Artistic Directors David Lawrence and Wendy Fish-Lawrence’s family-friendly production will be performed one weekend each in Manchester and Windsor. Three performances will be held at Windsor High School, 50 Sage Park Road, on December 11 (7 p.m.) and December 12 (1 p.m. and 6 p.m.). Three additional performances will be held the following weekend at Manchester High School, 134 Middle Turnpike East, on December 18 (2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and December 19 (2 p.m.). The production will highlight CCB’s talented local students alongside professional dancers from the Island Moving Company, Newport RI’s resident dance company, a collaborative relationship that goes back 9 years.

As the most affordable Nutcracker in the area, CCB’s show is known for elaborate staging, professional-quality costuming, intricate choreography and riveting dancing and has been a seasonal favorite for families and organizations such as scouting and arts groups. In 2009, 4,500 audience members attended the shows. Tickets are available by phone (860) 418-7294, online at www.connecticutnutcracker.com, at Dance Village, 171 Spencer St, Manchester and Hairdresser on Fire, 176 Broad St, Windsor.

According to Wendy Fish-Lawrence, “We feel very fortunate to be able to present another Nutcracker to the public, the 36th for Connecticut Concert Ballet, and we are backed by a large and enthusiastic community of people. The 250 members of our cast this year come from 32 towns as far-flung as East Granby and Stafford in the north, to Old Saybrook in the south, from Mansfield and Willimantic in the east to Bristol in the west, and many towns in between. Our shows feature our capable students performing alongside professional performers, and all of the technical aspects of our production are provided by professionals, from the costumes to the lighting and the stage crew. As always, proceeds from the Nutcracker help our non-profit organization keep the tuition low and offer scholarships that wouldn’t otherwise be available. Our goal is to keep high quality classical ballet training available to the largest population possible, as a past scholarship student myself this is very important to me.”

Ticket Information: Preferred Front & Center Seats $28, General Admission $22, Students/Seniors $15, ages 4 and under $10. Group discounts are available.
