Nationally Known LASIK Surgeon’s Center Passes 1 Year as Region’s Only LASIK Certified Clinic
Connie McCaa, MD, PhD, just passed the one-year mark as having the only iLASIK Certified clinic in her region. McCaa, who has been named by her peers as one of the Best Doctors in America for 12 consecutive years, also was one of the first doctors in America to perform LASIK laser vision correction. She has successfully performed LASIk thousands of times and also is a leading consultant surgeon for other physicians’ patients who have LASIK complications.
Flowood, MS, November 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- For more than a year, the LASIK Laser Eye Center still ranks as the only iLASIK Certified Center in metro Jackson.
Certification means that the clinic - owned by Connie McCaa, M.D., Ph.D. - provides blade-free LASIK on all patients, with lasers permanently on site that are used by a surgeon trained in the procedures. McCaa also is an iLASIK Certified surgeon.
More than a year ago, her Flowood clinic became the first iLASIK Certified Center in Mississippi, leading the state in offering patients the latest LASIK technology available.
“I was proud of being the first,” said McCaa, a nationally known LASIK surgeon. “It’s now gratifying that we’re still the only clinic with iLASIK Certified standing in greater Jackson at our one-year anniversary.
“It’s what I believe in - using top equipment to help ensure the best possible results.”
The Jackson ophthalmologist has the state-of-the-art equipment at her LASIK Laser Eye Center on 4800 Lakeland Drive in Flowood. The adobe-colored clinic is in the mini-mall just west of Lowe’s.
The iLASIK certification was awarded and confirmed by Abbott Medical Optics (AMO). It manufactures many LASIK machines on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s short list of approved medical devices for laser vision correction, including the ones McCaa uses in her clinic.
“Anyone who knows my practice understands that keeping the latest technology for patients is among my foremost concerns,” said McCaa, who performs the Advanced CustomVue LASIK procedure. “This equipment helps improve patients’ vision outcomes.
“I don’t want my patients to expect anything less from me.”
LASIK is a refractive eye surgery that uses a cool laser to reshape the cornea to permanently correct vision for:
• Nearsighted or myopic patients, including any astigmatism.
• Farsighted or hyperopic patients, including any astigmatism.
For 12 consecutive years, McCaa has been named one of the Best Doctors in America.
McCaa, who has 15 years of LASIK experience, was among a handful of physicians who were the first to perform LASIK in the United States. She successfully has performed the procedure thousands of times.
For each LASIK patient’s pre-exam, McCaa uses a Pentacam HR machine to ensure patients are good candidates for LASIK. The 3-D corneal scanner screens for hidden eye problems that could cause LASIK complications. She was the first to have the Pentacam HR in metro Jackson.
“All of my LASIK patients receive a thorough advanced examinations to ensure they are good LASIK candidates,” she said. “If they are not, we don’t perform LASIK and there is no fee.”
McCaa also is a leading consultant surgeon for other physicians’ patients who have LASIK complications. She has been board certified in ophthalmology since 1983.
McCaa has two clinics in metro Jackson, Miss. Her ophthalmology clinic is in the West Tower of St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Her LASIK Laser Eye Center is at 4800 Lakeland Drive in Flowood, convenient from Jackson International Airport. Her web site is at www.ConnieMcCaa.com
