The Issa Trust Foundation Partners with Upliftment Foundation to Improve Health and Well Being of the Children and Families in Jamaica
The Issa Trust Foundation has joined forces with the Upliftment Foundation to bring $50,000US of medical supplies and medications to help the children and families in Jamaica.
Miramar, FL, November 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Issa Trust Foundation embraced a number of exciting challenges and successes during the 2010 Medical Mission. Over a two week span in the St. Mary Parish, the community was embraced with 46 pediatric medical providers volunteering from the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, and from Philadelphia. The community witnessed the dedication and initiative of healthcare workers and others who had creative ideas for addressing child health problems. The key initiative this year was not only meeting the health care needs of children, but to meet core principles of sustainability by empowering people to lead health efforts in the St. Mary, St. Ann and Kingston parishes.
After the clinics were held, Issa Trust Foundation donated medications and medical supplies to the St. Mary Parish. In addition, donations were made to the St. Thomas Parish through the Upliftment Foundation.
“Our annual medical missions and developing Pediatric Medical Rotational program bring much needed assistance to the less fortunate children of Jamaica,” states Randy Russell, Chairman, Issa Trust Foundation. “Our efforts are multiplied through joint partnerships with such wonderful organizations such as Upliftment Foundation.”
“I am so happy that we were able to donate medications, medical supplies, and hospital supplies to Upliftment Foundation,” states Diane Pollard, President & CEO, Issa Trust Foundation. “The supplies will be distributed to the Princess Margaret Hospital in the St. Thomas parish along with, local health centres and to help with Upliftment Foundation’s health fair to be held in December 2010. It is imperative to share the supplies with those parishes in need so that families can receive much needed medication and supplies free of charge.
“This contribution made by the Issa Foundation symbolizes a major investment in the life of the citizens of St. Thomas,” stated Gary Foster, Chairman, Upliftment Foundation. “A healthy society is required for any nation to grow and be productive and so we welcome this partnership and support."
