Atlanta, GA, January 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- “The Divas”, five forty-something female friends, capture advertisers’ attention with their “infotainment” radio style podcast, TheDivaCast. Through the boundless medium of podcasting, The Divas set out to encourage other women to explore their own “inner diva” and corporations are taking notice. Podshow, Inc., a multi-tier podcast network created in part by MTV-famed Adam Curry, picked up TheDivaCast as one of its featured podcasts. Now, the popular sweetener, Splenda, and The Masthead, a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Marie Claire magazine, are also teaming with TheDivaCast.
The Divas; Suzanne Maiden, Julie Karneboge, Sharon Martin, Amy Rissier, and Carrie Runnals came together nearly ten years ago with absolutely no inclination of how far their friendship could reach until their whimsical leap into podcasting. This womanly bond is not necessarily uncommon, but The Divas are unique in their openness to allowing others a voyeuristic view of their humorous and personal recorded conversations. Donning Madonna-style headphones with swing-down microphones, The Divas explore serious topics like parenting and finances or simply record a “Diva Night” sharing a whole lot of laughter over cocktails. “We want to foster female friendships. No one, but a girlfriend, can truly understand what it’s like being a woman in the world today juggling marriage, motherhood, and a career,” says Julie.
Simply through conversation, these now-trusted personalities have created a following of loyal listeners and an influence on their buying decisions, which in turn piques advertisers’ interest. Though The Divas appreciate sponsorship opportunities, their true motivation comes from listener feedback about how TheDivaCast has touched other women’s lives. One listener writes, “After losing my closest friend to cancer, I felt alone. I listened to TheDivaCast and was inspired to reach out to a friend I’d lost touch with and that’s made all the difference.” Sharon says with a smile, “Now, THAT makes airing our dirty laundry worthwhile.”
With ten kids and five husbands between them, The Divas are well-qualified to cut up and dish about life, but they are serious about their mission to encourage and empower other women to develop and nurture friendships that Delight, Inspire, Validate, Affirm, and Support. And The Divas put their money where their mouths are by vowing to donate 10% of TheDivaCast’s income to organizations that benefit women.

Note: A podcast is an audio (or video) file delivered to your computer for free via the Internet. “Podcatcher” applications, like iTunes, allow you to choose a show and subscribe to the series, very much like a magazine. As soon as a new episode becomes available, it automatically downloads and “lives” on your computer until you are ready to listen to it on your computer, MP3 player, or iPod.
