Carl Edwards Celebrating CD Release with a Benefit Concert
Columbia, MO, January 24, 2007 --(PR.com)-- NASCAR driver Carl Edwards, founder of Back40 Records, announced the January 25th release of the label’s first CD. Titled That One CD, it’s a mix of hip-hop, R&B and rock music from seven artists. Also on January 25th, the Back40 Records artists are staging a benefit concert to kick off the CD release in downtown Columbia at The Blue Note, starting at 8:30 pm. All proceeds from the concert will go to The Dream Factory Foundation.
Edwards, a native of the Columbia area who knows how tough it is to go after dreams, is giving local musical artists a chance at success. To give them this chance, he started Back40 Records.
“My friends really love music and they’re amazing musicians,” Edwards said. “Everyone was sitting around and saying ‘we don’t really have a way to get a CD made or get signed to a label.’ So I said we’ll just go down to Dan Simon's (private and commercial lawyer) office downtown, we’ll get an LLC form and we’ll make a record.’”
Edwards credits the local community for helping him to get to where he is today, and is happy to be able to do the same for others.
“So many people have helped me so much, so many people from the community,” Edwards said. “Those people are the reason I get to do what I love. These guys have their dreams with music and it’s something we can do for fun and they really enjoy it.”
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Back40 Records is holding the Reach for Dreams Benefit Concert on January, 25th at downtown Columbia’s The Blue Note. The show will feature music from artists Chris Hatfield, Taylor Marie, Omega, Savage, Stevie Stone and Jonathan Truth.
“This first concert is going be a lot of fun,” Edwards said. “The proceeds are going to go to the dream factory. We hope to have a packed house.”
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and at The Blue Note.
