Erie Art Museum's Gallery Night: Holiday Edition
Erie, PA, November 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Galleries throughout town usher in the holiday shopping season with a holiday edition of Gallery Night on Friday, December 3, 2010, from 7-9 p.m.
“Erie’s galleries offer unique gifts such as fine art, art classes, professional framing, memberships and more. You are not going to find these handcrafted gifts at the Big Box Stores,” said Carolyn Eller, director of marketing and development for the Erie Art Museum. “Gallery Night was in part created to support local commerce.”
Gallery Night coincides with the Erie Downtown’s Downtown D’Lights event. Perry Square and State Street light-up for the holidays at 6 p.m.
Accents By The Bay, Bayfront Gallery, Cummings Gallery at Mercyhurst College, Geary’s Studio 7 Gallery, Glass Growers Gallery, The Kada Gallery, Rustic & Refined Gallery, Ralph Miller Jewelers & Gallery, Schuster Art Gallery at Gannon University, Stairways Center City Arts, Urraro Gallery and the galleries at the Erie Art Museum will host Gallery Night. Participating galleries will be offering visitors a chance to win a $25 gift certificate as an incentive to attract patrons into touring their galleries.
The Erie Art Museum will offer free gallery tours on the hour, and a ‘make your own ornament’ art activity.
Always a popular way to get around Gallery Night, EMTA’s Bayliner will be providing free shuttle transportation throughout the evening. Trolley maps and schedules are available at erieartmuseum.org.
About the Erie Art Museum
The Erie Art Museum anchors downtown Erie’s cultural and economic revitalization, occupying a group of restored mid-19th century commercial buildings and a modern, ‘Green,’ 10,500 square foot expansion. The newly expanded Museum marks the first LEED-certified building in the region, soon to be complete with a planted rooftop.
The Museum maintains an ambitious program of changing exhibitions annually, embracing a wide range of subjects, both historical and contemporary and including folk art, contemporary craft, multi-disciplinary installations, community-based work, as well as traditional media.
The Erie Art Museum also holds a collection of over 6,000 objects, which includes significant works in American ceramics, Tibetan painting, Indian bronzes, contemporary baskets, and a variety of other categories.
The Museum offers a wide range of education programs and artists’ services including interdisciplinary and interactive school tours and a wide variety of classes for the community. Performing arts are showcased in the 25-year-old Contemporary Music Series, which represents national and international performers of serious music with an emphasis on composer/performers, and a popular annual two-day Blues & Jazz Festival.
