CORE Development Services Co-Founder John Koos to Share Insight at First AGL Regional Conference
Longtime Planner to Provide Guidance & Tips Regarding Zoning Issues
Brea, CA, November 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- John Koos, co-founder of CORE Development Services, has accepted an invitation to share his experience successfully navigating projects through California’s increasingly challenging public planning process at the upcoming AGL Regional Conference.
The conference, being held December 3-4, in San Francisco, CA, is the first in a series of five regional conferences hosted by AGL that will focus on developing solutions to the unique challenges faced in different geographies. This event is expected to draw a significant number of executives from the wireless industry as well as policymakers from all levels of government. Mr. Koos has been asked to speak during a session entitled “Changes in Federal Regulations: What You Should Know to Operate Towers.”
CORE Development Services is California’s top wireless site development firm, offering an integrated suite of site acquisition, planning and design services that simplify and accelerate the planning and development process.
“I am honored to accept the invitation to participate in AGL’s first regional conference. It is exciting to see AGL becoming more active in helping carriers and municipalities view 4G as an opportunity to move from a historically contentious relationship to one of collaboration and creativity” said Koos. “As an industry advocate, it is rewarding to see other key players share CORE’s vision of a collective and comprehensive jurisdictional strategy. This strategy is the underpinning of our approach to wireless site development—designed to help clients get to market faster while reducing risk and minimizing costs. I welcome the opportunity to discuss the peace of mind that comes from knowing that our client’s project will be finished on time, and on budget.”
Mr. Koos began his career as a professional urban planner, working for the City of Orange, County of Orange, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the Southern California Association of Governments. Prior to co-founding Core Development Services, he applied his knowledge and experience to the wireless industry at Whalen & Company, where he served first as the leading Entitlements Manager and then Senior Project Manager, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of professionals managing site acquisition through construction.
Over the past decade, clients have turned to Mr. Koos when seemingly impossible land use projects needed approvals. He has also rescued projects heading for denial and transformed them into approvals, including many high profile projects in the City of Los Angeles and the City of Santa Monica. Additionally, John has been instrumental in working with city staffs to modify municipal codes, including the zoning codes of Los Angeles, Colton, Buena Park, Anaheim and Tustin. Consensus building with affected communities, identification of particular jurisdictional nuances, and long-standing personal and political relationships set Mr. Koos apart from the rest.
Mr. Koos currently serves as the Chair of the City of Brea Planning Commission. He previously served as a City of Anaheim Planning Commissioner from 1998 to 2003 (Chairman in 2001), the Orange County Transportation Authority’s Citizens Advisory Committee from 1999 to 2003 (Vice Chair, 2001-2003) and successfully led the $111 million school bond campaign for the Anaheim City School District in 2002. Mr. Koos is also a member of the Orange County Public Affairs Association and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
