Jeff Greenwald to Lead Fundraising Trip to Nepal

Author and Nepal expert Jeff Greenwald will lead a small-group tour to Nepal in 2011 to launch the new Ethical Journeys culturally and environmentally-responsible tour program. Proceeds of the trip will benefit Ethical Traveler.

Berkeley, CA, November 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Bestselling author of Shopping for Buddhas and Snake Lake will host Dreams of Kathmandu, a journey created by Ethical Traveler and Global Exchange Reality Tours.

Jeff Greenwald, author of Snake Lake (National Geographic Traveler’s November 2010 Book of the Month) and executive director of Ethical Traveler, will guide the organization’s first Nepal fundraising tour in 2011: Dreams of Kathmandu – An Intimate Visit to the Sacred Valley. Greenwald is the author of three books set in Nepal, including Shopping for Buddhas (which won the Lowell Thomas Gold Award for Best Travel Book of 1996) and Mr. Raja’s Neighborhood: Letters from Nepal, published in 1984. He has been a frequent visitor to Nepal for the past 30 years. Now he will share his love for the Kathmandu Valley with a small group of travelers.

Co-led by long time Kathmandu resident, activist and renowned photographer, Thomas Kelly; Dreams of Kathmandu explores Nepal’s ancient traditions and modern political history and dialogues with activists and influential locals who are helping to shape the world’s newest republic. This trip will be of special interest to people who combine a passion for the arts with a deep curiosity about the evolution of newly emerging democracies.

Dreams of Kathmandu is a 13-day journey from February 28 – March 11, 2011 and includes a flight over the Himalayas and excursion to the wildlife sanctuary, Chitwan National Park. Participants will visit sacred sites (including the World Heritage Sites of Boudha and Patan Durbar Square), meet with contemporary artists and spiritual leaders, and dialogue with social entrepreneurs.

Dreams of Kathmandu is tier-priced at $3565 (10-14 participants), $3425 (15-19 participants) and $3280 (20-25 participants) per person on a double-occupancy basis with single supplements available for an additional $480 per person.
