North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce Begins Holiday Toy Drive and Sponsors Food Drive for St. Mary’s Food Bank
NSCC holds annual toy drive to benefit Helping Hands; food drive in partnership with Mercado Merchants Association
Scottsdale, AZ, November 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The philanthropic efforts of the North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce (NSCC) are already in full force as the organization begins the holiday season with an annual toy drive for disadvantaged children of Helping Hands in conjunction with a co-sponsored food drive for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
The NSCC is accepting new, unwrapped toy donations at their Scottsdale headquarters through December 10, 2010. As additional incentive to participate, those who donate a toy will receive one entry into the Chamber’s raffling of a limited edition, Glenn Mire signed print. Chamber members who donate are also eligible to receive five dollars off admission to the next Chamber sponsored event.
In partnership with the Mercado Merchants Association, the NSCC will also be actively promoting a holiday food drive through December 17, 2010, with a goal of donating 200,000 food items for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. An especially timely effort considering the difficult economy and the fact that recent studies show 1 in 4 children, 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 7 seniors are "food insecure" in the state of Arizona.
Participants who shop at the Mercado shopping center will receive one Mercado Dollar for every can or non-perishable food item donated, which is good for redemption at their Gala Charity Event. Food donations are being accepted by all merchants at 10155 E Via Linda, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
