During the last five years, many companies were going under, and bankrupting, especially in the business of retail! Celebrating a huge defeat of what life can dish out is Castle Baths, the Natural Bath and Body Spa Line company run by Laura Thomas from Hampton who shares, “The Lord Almighty is my CEO.”
Laura Thomas built her business from the ground up from her home in late 2005. Castle Baths grew steady each year with new products, new lines and lots of new customers. She also informs, “The company has a point nil return rate (only 3 returns in 5 years) and a 90% repeat customer rate for her online ecommerce site (www.castlebaths.com).” Thomas further comments, "It's hard to start any new business, but it's harder to start and to grow one during a recession. It's even harder if you're starting not only at ground zero, but with under a hundred dollars to invest." Thomas adds, "I had a vision, Products with Purpose, and so Castle Baths was born."
As Thomas was building the foundation of her business and still to date, marketing companies criticized her for having scripture on her site and product labels. Laura tells of few of the challenges she had to face, “They criticized that she claimed God as her CEO. Marketing and advertising agencies told Laura over and over that her business would grow larger if she removed the "God part" from her business and that she is most likely offending many of her visitors.” Thomas' response, "Sorry, my business and faith is nothing without God. I will not take God out of Castle Baths. If I offend a visitor with my soft witness, then I hope the seed has been planted for the conviction God wishes to apply to that visitors life. Castle Baths is about caring about others and stewardship! How can anyone think God needs to be fired and removed from His position as the CEO of Castle Baths." Laura further says, "I believe my success in this failing economy is definitely God sent.
"I built Castle baths as my gift back to God for all the gifts he has blessed my life with. I wish to share by being a good steward and help others. We don't only need help in financial directions; we need help in education, health, and feeling good about life overall!" adds Laura
Shortly after Laura's second year, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis; that is when her daughter, Racheal Brennan, joined forces to help Laura continue to grow the company. Laura says, "This is just part of God's plan. I thank Him daily for not sending me with cancer or even worse, something that would destroy the person I am and have grown to be."
