The award is based on a survey performed by Cincinnati Business Courier with Quantum Market Research. The small business category encompasses businesses with 1 to 50 employees. The Castleton Group received this recognition at a luncheon on Nov 9 at the Kentucky Convention Center.

Workers in Cincinnati nominated their employers as a Best Place to Work in a survey. Nominated companies received an online opinion survey to distribute to workers. Employees then were asked to gauge their level of agreement to a set of 40 quantitative questions that probed their opinions about the organization, managers, co-workers and their own jobs. The survey also allowed respondents to enter qualitative, general comments anonymously. Winners were the top 10 finishers among small, midsize and large businesses.
