Agora Gallery Presents The Odyssey Within
Chelsea, NY, December 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Russian-Italian artist, Natalia Repina, in The Odyssey Within: an Exhibition of Fine Art by Greek and Italian Artists. The exhibition is scheduled to run from December 16, 2010 through January 7, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, December 02, 2010).
The oil paintings of Natalia Repina combine the wonder of magical realism with her love for the light and movement of the Impressionists to create a truly moving art form. Drawn from childhood memories, lasting impressions and the living, breathing world around her, her images are sentient, transforming common landscapes and moments in time into vortexes of human emotion that magically transport the viewer into an unknown world of sentiment and memory.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia and trained at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, Repina now lives and works in Italy, and the Italian influence is evident in her work. Her dynamic interplay of color and light results in vibrant displays and emotive expressive forms. The arc and fall of her paintbrush over the canvas produces a natural cadence, as her use of composition conveys all her philosophies, impressions and experiences of life. Repina has an incredible ability to infuse a two-dimensional canvas with all the multidimensional meanings and emotions inherent in simple everyday moments.
