GoVision Screens Dazzle at Gaylord Opryland’s Grand Reopening
GoVision deploys a wide array of LED configurations during spectacular three-day series of events staged to celebrate the reopening of the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, following flooding that swamped the hotel in May 2010.
Nashville, TN, December 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Wide array of LED configurations deployed during spectacular three-day show.
In early May 2010, the banks of the Cumberland River overflowed, resulting in an unprecedented flooding of the city of Nashville and its premier resort, the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.
Six months later, thousands of meeting planners, convention organizers, travel industry leaders and dignitaries gathered here to celebrate the grand reopening of the Gaylord Opryland with a spectacular, three-day series of events that showcased both the resilience of the city and the re-birth of one of the best convention hotels in the world.
Every awe-inspiring moment was captured by a wide array of LED screens provided by Argyle, TX-based GoVision L.P. (www.jumbo.tv), one of the nation's premier suppliers of turnkey mobile LED units and customized modular LED walls.
The main event, held in the hotel’s massive Delta Atrium, featured modern dancers hoisted above the crowd on wires, indoor fireworks and a breathtaking pyrotechnics display, all choreographed to a variety of musical scores. GoVision integrated four diverse types of LED screens into the show, including –
-- A 15-foot x 40-foot main screen comprised of Daktronics HD12 LED boards;
-- Two 9-foot x 16-foot remote HD12 LEDs;
-- A 20-foot diameter cylinder of Winvision 1875, which was raised and lowered throughout the show as part of the complex and elaborate staging; and
-- Eight shared effects elements constructed with Barco Mitrix panels
In addition, GoVision incorporated three new 13-foot x 13-foot Pix20 Rollup LED screens into the annual Lighting Ceremony for the resort’s “A Country Christmas” attractions. In a dramatic and unique effect, the screens rolled up to allow the world-famous Rockettes and other high-profile entertainers to enter the stage, then back down to provide a dramatic, high-definition backdrop. At the end of the show, the screens rolled up completely to provide an unobstructed view of the hotel illuminated in the background. “The Gaylord Opryland reopening was about as elaborate a production as you could imagine, which allowed us to get extremely creative with the types of cutting-edge technologies we used at the various events,” said Chris Curtis, CEO of Argyle, TX-based GoVision. “We deployed flat panels, wrap-around boards, cylindrical and rollup LEDs, and just about every type of equipment and configuration possible to help deliver some absolutely extraordinary images.”
The festivities were orchestrated by Dallas-based messaging architects Corporate Magic (www.corporatemagicinc.com).
With 3,000 employees and nearly 3,000 rooms, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is the largest hotel in the United States outside of Las Vegas. GoVision’s screens can best be viewed beginning at the 23:40 mark of the “Gaylord Opryland Grand Reopening Ceremony” video posted at www.GaylordOpryland.com/mediaroom.
