Family Service Launches Annual Holiday Giving Drive
Family Service’s Holiday Giving Drive is officially underway and will run until Friday, December 17. The organization is collecting new, unwrapped holiday gifts for children, teens and adults in desperate need of support in over 60 Family Service programs.
Mt. Holly, NJ, December 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- During this time of joy, it is important to remember the most vulnerable members of the community. Each day Family Service works with individuals learning to manage a severe mental illness or developmental disability, families struggling to put food on the table, teenagers facing pregnancy alone and children coping with the trauma of abuse.
Family Service invites the community to make this holiday season special for the individuals and families they serve. Individuals can help by making a monetary contribution, providing holiday gifts or sponsoring a family in need. Every little bit makes a difference, and Troy’s story reminds us why:
Troy was recently laid off from his job as a Senior Account Manager at a major healthcare organization. Now on unemployment, he struggles to put food on the table for his elderly parents and three children. He also attends a Family Service program for individuals struggling with mental illness.
Troy explains, “The economy has definitely taken a major toll on my life. The case management program and the Family Service Food Pantry help me when I need it the most. I can take care of my family’s basic needs, manage my illness and concentrate on getting a job so I can get back on my feet.”
As the number of families in need continues to grow, the community’s generosity is critical now more than ever. Drop off holiday gifts or donations to Family Service, 770 Woodlane Road, Mt. Holly, NJ, 08060. Visit www.fam-serv.org for donation ideas, a list of additional drop off locations, tips on how to run a donation drive or to make a monetary contribution. Contact the Development Office at (609) 267-5928 if you would like to sponsor a family or group home.
Family Service, a private non-profit community agency, serves the behavioral health and wellness needs of children, individuals and families in southern and central New Jersey. For more information, please call the Development Office at (609) 267- 5928, or email LizF@famserv.org.
