Stairways’ Center City Arts Joins 2010 Holiday Gallery Night Tour

Erie, PA, December 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Stairways Behavioral Health’s Center City Arts, 138 E. 26th Street in Erie, PA, embraces art as a means to recovery in their 7th Annual Holiday Art Show & Sale, joining with the Erie Art Museum and several Erie art galleries for Gallery Night: Holiday Edition, December 3, 2010, from 7-9 p.m.

Gallery Night-goers will kick off their holiday shopping while supporting Stairways’ Center City Arts program. Hand-made art, including paintings, original prints, fused glass plates, jewelry, glass ornaments, painted gourds, hand-woven purses, and much more will be for sale at the most unique venue in town. All proceeds benefit Stairways’ clients and the Center City Arts studio, in their new location at the beautiful and historic Rose Koehler - Curtze estate on East 26th Street.

Center City Arts brings mental wellness recovery components and principles together in one program, exemplifying best practices and transcending the perception and negative consequences of mental illness by showcasing everyone’s abilities, talents, strengths and wellness. Center City Arts provides instruction, quality materials and the state-of-the-art studio space necessary to complete a wide variety of art forms. This year, more than 300 clients of Stairways Behavioral Health created art through this unique and pressure-free arts experience.

2010 marks the 7th Annual Holiday Art Sale for the Stairways program, but the first time the yearly event coincides with the Erie Art Museum Gallery Night, as well as Erie Downtown’s Downtown D’Lights event. Perry Square and State Street light-up for the holidays at 6 p.m.

The EMTA’s Bayliner will provide free shuttle transportation between participating galleries. Trolley maps and schedules will be available at Center City Arts, the Erie Art Museum, and at every stop along the tour.
