IEEE Communications Society to Honor 2010 Career and Service Award Winners at IEEE GLOBECOM 2010
More than 2,000 Industry Experts & Leaders to Join in Ceremonies held at Internet Communications Event from 6 – 10 December 2010 in Miami, Florida.
New York, NY, December 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the leading worldwide professional organization dedicated to the advancement of communications technologies, will honor the career and service accomplishments of leading communications and professional experts at the organization’s flagship conference to be held 6 – 10 December 2010 at The Hyatt Regency Miami in Miami, Florida.
Themed “MIAMI: Moving Into the Age of Mobile Interactivity,” IEEE GLOBECOM will host more than 2,000 presentations dedicated to the ongoing advancement and deploy of global communications technologies designed specifically to increase the quality of life worldwide and provide a myriad of solutions for everyday people. Since its inception in 1957, IEEE GLOBECOM attendees have joined with peers and colleagues from around the world to greatly expedite the introduction and implementation of the entire range of voice, data, image, and multimedia technologies.
On Tuesday, 7 December at the IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 Award Luncheon, IEEE ComSoc will honor the contributions of several leading communications experts with the presentation of the organization’s distinguished career and service awards. Among the honorees at this year’s event are:
--Leonard J. Cimini, Jr. of the University of Delaware, who will receive the IEEE Communications Society Donald W. McLellan Meritorious Service Award for “sustained, high-quality contributions to Communications Society governance and operations, including conference development, publications, awards processes and strategic planning”
--Abbas Jamalipour of the University of Sydney, who will be presented the IEEE Communications Society Harold Sobol Award for Exemplary Service to Meetings & Conferences for “continuous and outstanding contributions to the enhancement of the technical quality of Communications Society flagship conferences”
--Larry Greenstein of WinLab, Rutgers, who will receive the IEEE Communications Society Joseph LoCicero Award for Exemplary Service to Publications for “outstanding service to the Communications Society as Director of Journals”
--Roberto Saracco of Telecom Italia, who has earned the IEEE ComSoc/KICS Exemplary Global Service “for his consistent work to promote the role of ComSoc throughout the world, emphasizing the value of communications technology and its impact on business and society”
In addition to the ceremonies honoring these award winners, IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 will commence on Monday, December 6th with a full-day of tutorials and workshops dedicated to topics ranging from cognitive radio & adaptive wireless communications systems to smart communications and network technologies. The five-day international event will then proceed with three days of keynotes, plenary speaker presentations, technical symposia, business & technology forums and exhibits designed to explore the entire spectrum of communications technologies dedicated to topics such as glitch-free multimedia, next generation Internet, seamless mobility, smart grid communications, tele-health and green technologies.
Held simultaneously with many of these events will also be the conference’s Business & Technology Forums, which will explore the latest innovations in IPv6, 4G wireless, cloud computing, intelligent transportation and communications upgrade funding techniques across eight different sessions. Another highlight is the forum’s presentation titled “Mobile Telephony & its Economic Impact,” which will be hosted by Dr. George F. McClure, the former president of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, and include insights from leading researchers based in the United States, France and Japan.
