American Named U.S. Ambassador to Nepal 2011 for Setting World Record
Adventurer Sean Burch was named U.S. Goodwill Ambassador to Nepal for 2011 for setting a new official world record for the fastest crossing of Nepal from India to Tibet, and for assisting people living in the remote Hidden Himalaya. He ran and trekked high altitude peaks across the Great Himalaya Trail in 49 days, 6 hours, and 8 minutes. Burch traversed 1,250 miles, took over 2.6 million steps, and tackled elevation gains/losses of over 500,000ft.
Sebastopol, CA, December 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Burch met the Minister of Tourism and Ambassador to Nepal in a private ceremony at the Ambassador’s home in Washington, DC. “It’s a matter of great pleasure for all of us that Sean Burch has become successful in setting the latest new world record of fastest crossing of Nepal East to West in 49 days…we feel privileged to honor you as U.S. Ambassador to Nepal of NTY 2011,” said Sharat Singh Bhandari, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal.
Burch had to cross 18 districts of Nepal and broke the previous world record set in 2003 by 19 days. The current estimated time for the trek by expedition companies in Nepal is over 157 days.
Burch remarked, "Having a mindset that kept you focused was the most important asset to the expedition. If I had listened to my body, I would have quit after day 10 when over 30+ leeches attacked my feet. Every day was so jammed pack with intense experiences, like 49 individual expeditions.”
Sean attributes his success to years to hyperfitness training, meditation, and a new product just released on the market, Ka! organic mental superfood. “The teams and myself ate only local, organic food the entire expedition. I needed daily mental and physical energy boosts that would help me stay concentrated, support my oxygen uptake, and keep my stamina sustained every second of the day. Since the vast majority of energy drinks out in the market today are proven to be bad for consumers, I found Ka! to be the answer.”
Burch has been meeting with top government and tourism officials in Nepal and at home in the states to help promote with the non-profit, Nepal Trust, the remoter regions of Nepal and assist with sustainable social and economic development projects. “Sean Burch is a Superman,” said Kishor Thapa, Hon’ble Secretary, Nepal Government.
Burch is a world renowned multi-world record holder in extreme adventurous sports and active explorer. His successes comprise many feats, some that have taken him to the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records. He has established world records around the world including Kilimanjaro, the North Pole, Mt. Everest, Mt. Fuji, Tibet, and Greenland. Burch, hailed as ‘One of the World’s Most Extreme Adventurers’ by National Geographic, is regularly sought by the world’s leading media news organizations for his expert opinion on fitness and adventure exploration, including the Associated Press, Reuters, ABC World News, CNN, and BBC. He is the author of the highly acclaimed book Hyperfitness: 12 Weeks to Conquering Your Inner Everest, as well as a motivational specialist for companies around the world, and award winning master fitness trainer.
