New York, NY, December 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- When was the last time you met someone with whom you truly had something in common with? StreetSpark, (www.itunes.com/app/streetspark) the new iPhone app, helps create that serendipitous moment - letting you know when you’re in the right place at the right time to meet the right person.
To get started, users register, enter their basic profile info, and then let StreetSpark find potential Sparks (matches) while users’ smartphones are on. This “Social Matching” technique, using StreetSpark’s proprietary algorithm to compile activity across other social networks like Twitter, Facebook, Pandora, and Foursquare and use this information to match users based not only on common interests but also the recent activities the users share, lets users live their lives without interference and constant checking.
Unlike other dating sites that require a lot of time up front to answer questions and money to connect with other users, StreetSpark does the heavy lifting for users. No sitting at home waiting for emails, no hours spent online, and no fees to pay.
StreetSpark creator Anthony Erwin said, “Just like a great host at a party, StreetSpark only makes introductions between people it thinks will get along. Even better, it breaks the ice by showing them the interests they share and overlaps on things they’ve been doing lately.”
How it works: you might be at your favorite coffee shop when you receive a spark on your smartphone. Sparks, which are displayed in a list, show you limited profiles of your matches, including what you have in common with each Spark, e.g. “You both listened to Radiohead an hour ago on Pandora, regularly check in out at Stumptown Coffee via Foursquare, and ‘Like’ Time Out New York on Facebook”. In addition, the app also tells you approximately where a Spark is in regards to your location (in miles), so if you want to get to know that person better, you can “ignite” the Spark to see a full profile and connect in real time, or “extinguish” to dismiss the Spark and make way for others. You can chat with other Sparks or meet up in a public place (safety is key.), if nearby.
Because of how StreetSpark matches users, there are more real matches, and less laundry lists of mediocre date spam. And not only are the matches more accurate, but by showing when and where users’ paths have recently crossed, StreetSpark makes dating exciting again.
Simply put, it brings the spontaneity back to dating.
