The Energy Exchange Recognises Outstanding Achievement and Vision in the HSE Sector in Amsterdam Last Week
Saipem's Leadership in Safety (LiS) programme was recognised for its outstanding achievements last week at The Global Oil & Gas Health & Safety Summit. Saipmem were awarded both of The Energy Exchange’s inaugural Health & Safety Awards for their groundbreaking programme which has received international acclaim for getting leaders to think differently about safety from a totally new emotional dimension.
London, United Kingdom, December 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In Early 2006, despite good safety performance, Saipem’s CEO, Mr Pietro Franco Tali, recognised that people were being injured or worse whilst working for Saipem. He understood that some people, right along the chain of command, had the idea that saving time or money was more important than safety.
To dispel this untruth and strive toward a new safety culture, Mr Tali became the catalyst of an innovative approach to safety, breeding a new generation of Safety Leaders. Overseeing the development process personally, he played the leading role in a hard hitting film based upon true events. This became the vehicle to clarify his fundamental intent for safety, aligning his workforce with the strong message that there is no conflict between safety and efficiency, safety comes first, nothing is more important. The Leadership in Safety workshops, a 1.5 day experience, developed to exploit Mr Tali’s messages, provided attendees of all management levels with an emotional ‘mind jolting’ journey. The workshops began late 2007 sponsored by Mr Tali, and since then over 6000 leaders have participated across 33 different countries. The Global Oil & Gas Health & Safety Summit is pleased to have awarded the Health & Safety Achievement Award to Mr Tali for driving the implementation of the innovative’s Saipem Leadership in Safety program.
Saipem “Leadership in Safety” program has also received international recognition for getting leaders to think differently about safety from a totally new emotional dimension.
On 1st December at the Energy Exchange Health & Safety Summit, Mr Davide Scotti described the roll out of the program strategy as an example of both visible management commitment towards safety leadership and the workforce involvement into saipem global cultural change program.
Managers are encouraged, expected and empowered to personally disseminate the LiS concepts to their workforce with credibility and passion, through strategically planned high influence events where every employee is targeted, not only to hit the mind, but touch the heart.
Rewarding their outstanding achievement and vision in the HSE sector Saipmem has also been awarded the Outstanding Health & Safety Vision Award which recognised an organisation that has improved its bottom line through the implementation of exceptional helath and safety processes as well as the necessity of safety leadership in achieving an accident-free workplace.
