Stanley Gibbons public auction, taking place on Wednesday 15th December, offers several items which experts have never seen before as well as a selection of Lots being sold on behalf of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
London, United Kingdom, December 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Stanley Gibbons December public auction promises a wealth of delights for collectors this month when nearly 1500 lots go under the hammer at their offices at 399 Strand, London.
The Whole World public auction has a very strong selection of China, Malaya and Japanese Occupation lots and some 39 mixed country lots being sold on behalf of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Stanley Gibbons experts are particularly excited by Lot 431, a booklet of One Anna stamps bearing the Royal Crest and inscribed JIND STATE in red and SIXTEEN / ONE ANNA STAMPS. PRICE ONE RUPEE/ S.P.1 in black, and Lot 549, a complete sheet of £5 green and red/yellow overprinted type 1 (SG J115), with full margins, un-mounted, in fine condition.
Lot 431 is currently un-catalogued by Stanley Gibbons and their experts have never seen a complete sheet of SG J115, making these extremely rare and desirable items indeed.
Another item of note is Lot 1188, a complete sheet of twenty 1929 PUC £1 (SG 438) with full margins.
The auctioneers are also pleased by the selection of Penny Blacks in the auction, including twelve Plate 11 items and numerous multiples (Lots 880- 1046). The World’s first postage stamp is being snapped up by Chinese buyers for well above catalogue value so it is hoped that these will sell well when they go under the hammer on the 15th.
The sale will close for web bidding on 12 December 2010 at 23.59 with the sale going live in the auction room at 9.30am on 15 December. All bids after the 12th need to be emailed, phoned (+44 (0) 207 836 8444) or faxed (+44 (0) 207 836 7342) to the auction department.
