Ohm Spa Contributes to Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort
For the entire month of September, Ohm Spa pledges to donate 10% of all Nail Therapy treatments purchased to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund (http://www.redcross.org/).
New York, NY, September 06, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Ohm Spa (http://www.ohmspa.com/) is doing its part to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. To residents of New York City, the disaster in New Orleans may seem geographically far away. But owners Jon Ho and Kathy Yan are acutely aware of the needs of the municipalities affected, as well as the citizens that were victimized by the storm’s brutal impact. For the entire month of September, Ohm Spa pledges to donate 10% of all Nail Therapy treatments purchased to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund (http://www.redcross.org/).
Many individuals in New York City may not be aware of the gravity of the situation in the South. Jon and Kat hope to not only raise funds for the rescue efforts of the Red Cross, but to also increase awareness among busy New Yorkers who may not be following coverage of the disaster. Katrina has left an estimated $25 billion in damages, with the death toll reaching into the thousands (http://www.nytimes.com/).
When considering how to help, Jon examined all of the spa’s resources: “We could use our expertise to assist these individuals, but what these victims really need are food, water and shelter - the basic necessities for life.”
At Ohm Spa, Nail Therapy treatments are very popular among both men and women, and this fact will lead to the success of the campaign. Now guests can enjoy the services and treatments while knowing that their purchases are helping those in need.
The couple remembers a time in the city when people from all over the nation came together to send assistance in the forms of money, supplies, prayers, and helping hands. They feel it’s now time for New York to do its part to help fellow Americans to bounce back from this natural disaster. Kat hopes that Ohm Spa’s support will only be a tiny portion of the assistance for those affected by Katrina: “If you don’t come to Ohm Spa for your next manicure or pedicure, please help by making a direct donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.”
