Strengthening of Executive Board at Lavendon Group plc
Lutterworth, United Kingdom, December 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Lavendon Group plc, the European and Middle Eastern market leader in aerial work platform rentals and related technical solutions, announces two changes to its senior Executive Management team.
Andy Wright, who joined Lavendon from Aggreko, and has led Lavendon’s UK business through a sequence of successful acquisition and integration projects since 2007, is appointed to the newly-created position of Chief Executive, International Operations, based in Dubai. Andy was given responsibility, in April 2010, for oversight of Lavendon’s Middle East business, alongside his existing UK responsibilities.
Kevin Appleton, Group Chief Executive, commented on Andy’s appointment: “Having moved to the region in June, with the goal of developing a plan to address the challenges and opportunities facing us, Andy has identified exciting potential for an expanded international business model using our existing infrastructure in the Middle East as the foundation. Having built the plan and recognising its complexity, it makes a lot of sense for someone of Andy’s seniority and skill to see this through. The success of our international business is a key value driver for Lavendon and, in Andy, we have matched this opportunity to a proven business talent.”
Andy’s decision, made in July, to focus full-time on the development of an expanded international business for Lavendon created a need to appoint a new leader in the UK. This search process has now successfully concluded with the appointment of Mike Potts to the role of Chief Executive, Lavendon Access Services (UK).
Mike is a graduate in Engineering from Cambridge University and spent his early career at Metal Box, Shell and Courtaulds, gaining an MBA at INSEAD, the international business school, along the way. For the past seven years he has been CEO of Vendia, a private equity backed European supplier of food and beverage vending services. Mike was also the recipient of an FA Youth Cup Winners’ medal from his time on the books at Watford FC.
On Mike’s appointment, Kevin Appleton said: “Mike comes with an excellent business pedigree and a strong track record of achievement. He absolutely fits the mould of top quality, people-oriented managers we look for. I am confident he will fit seamlessly into the organisation and will seek to build on the solid foundation that Andy has created in the UK business.”
