David Nghiem's Free E-book Says People Can Learn Spanish in 28 Days
Cherry Hill, NJ, December 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Before David left for South America on a 2000 mile bicycle journey, he never took a single course in Spanish. Yet in about 28 days, he became conversational in Spanish. David wrote a free e-book, How to Get Fluent in Spanish in 28 Days or Less, on his strategy to learning the language quickly.
“He speaks better than my children!” said his Dominican neighbor, Angela.
“I grew up speaking both Vietnamese and English. So, I had a strong intuition of what to do and how to do it. When I started learning Spanish, I simply applied the lessons of my childhood to picking it up,” said Nghiem.
David's book applies strategic immersion learning the language. Immersion is where students live and interact within Spanish speaking communities. Although the book is geared towards people who want to study or volunteer abroad, David states that the methods can be used in any setting with Spanish speakers.
“This isn't a grammar book. It's a guide to using the grammar that you learn, practically and efficiently. It will help you get started in speaking conversational Spanish with practical methods,” said Nghiem.
Lower Division Spanish Coordinator Esther Aguilar, of San Diego State University, said on average it should take someone one to three years to become fluent in Spanish. She said Nghiem's method is the key to learning Spanish.
"Total immersion is the best," said Aguilar.
To prove his point, David returned to South America, and rode his bike for another 3768 miles, through the Amazon and Brazil, and became proficient in Portuguese using the same methods.
