CICS is Chosen by Peel Utilities to Verify its Emissions at MediaCityUK
Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom, December 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- CICS, a global expert in greenhouse gas verification, is pleased to announce that it has been chosen by Peel Utilities, a subsidiary of the Peel Group, a leading infrastructure, transport and real estate investment company in the UK, to verify the greenhouse gas emissions of the tri-generation District Energy Scheme at MediaCityUK in Manchester.
Built and maintained by COFELY, Europe’s leading energy and environmental efficiency services company, the CHP Energy Centre will allow 29% less CO2 to be produced at MediaCityUK than if a traditional energy supply were used.
A £650million project, MediaCityUK is being developed as a 37-acre working and leisure space for everyone involved in the creative and digital industries. BBC North, an education centre for Salford University and Vision+Media are among the first to be located on the site which will also offer commercial, retail and residential space.
Independent verification of such figures is critical, both to satisfy the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS), and to assure stakeholders of the validity and accuracy of the emissions data reporting moving forward. CICS was the first verification body to be awarded accreditation by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to provide verification for EU ETS and has worked with companies around the globe to verify emissions for both mandatory schemes and voluntary reporting purposes.
Shaun Bainbridge, Sales Director at CICS, commented:
“We are delighted to be working with Peel Utilities to verify their annual emissions data for EU ETS. With over $8 billion of CO2 verified to date for the Scheme, we have the experience to make the whole verification process as efficient and as quick as possible for them.”
