Attorney Cindy Salvo Interviewed by Fox Business Concerning Trademark Infringement Advice for Small Businesses

Cindy Salvo, founding partner of The Salvo Law Firm, P.C., was quoted by Fox Business regarding advice for small business owners who are accused of trademark infringement.

Fairfield, NJ, December 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Cindy Salvo, founding partner of The Salvo Law Firm, was interviewed by Fox Business concerning ways a business can protect its name when faced with the threat of a trademark infringement lawsuit.

Ms. Salvo advised that businesses keep the following documents/information handy: (1) documentation of all of the ways the business uses the trademark; (2) itemized expenses showing money spent on implementing and promoting the trademark; for example, signage, advertising, printed materials, online presence, etc.; (3) details on the good faith decision to use the business’s name; and (4) steps the business took to verify that the trademark was available.

Ms. Salvo also advised that if a company receives a “cease and desist” letter, it should not panic. Very often there is no valid trademark infringement, just an overly aggressive litigious company on the other end. All such letters should be turned over to the company’s attorney, however, and should never be ignored.
