A New Study Released by Woya.com Busts the Myth of After Christmas Sale

Does the holiday sale have the steepest discount after Christmas? Many consumers believe so and are waiting till After Christmas Sales to make holiday purchases. A new study released by Woya.com shows that this may not be such a wise strategy.

Fremont, CA, December 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- It is a common belief that After Christmas Sales offers extra savings and it is worth the wait despite the fact that some products may run out of stock. While this strategy may work for certain product verticals such as apparels, a new study released by Woya.com suggests that at least for consumer electronics, it may not pay off.

Woya.com, a consumer product research site, analyzed the price fluctuation of over 3,400 consumer electronics from 11 popular categories in the 2009 holiday season, using data from major online stores and price comparison sites including Amazon, Ebay, Cnet, Shopzilla, and Yahoo Shopping. The study finds that:
•Price went up for 32.6% of the products during After Christmas Sales by an average of 12.1%;
•Price went down for 33.6% of the products during After Christmas Sales by an average of 9.3%;

If the data from 2009 holiday season is a fair representation of the general trend, consumers should take advantage of the holiday sale now instead of waiting till after Christmas.
