New Release Children’s Book, Gregory's Paper Airplane, Authored by 9-year-old Texan

Inspired by a presentation at his church about enslaved children in Cambodia, a nine-year-old Texas boy, Benjamin Sherman, wrote a story that has become a published children’s book.

Grapevine, TX, December 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Titled “Gregory’s Paper Airplane,” the book tells the story of a boy whose restless heart compels him to act after watching a TV show about Cambodian children living in an orphanage. Published by WestBow Press, a division of Thomas Nelson Publishing, the book’s proceeds will support two not-for-profit organizations aimed at ending child slavery in Cambodia. The website www.GregorysPaperAirplane.com was created to promote and distribute the book.

“Ben started writing books when he was 5 years old,” Paige Sherman, Ben’s mother, said. “By the time he was eight, he had written over 100 books. He even created ‘Ben’s Bookstore’ in his bedroom to sell his books to family and friends.”

“Yes, I’ve purchased a lot of Ben’s books,” quipped Jeff Sherman, Ben’s father. “As a dad, of course, I think all of his books are awesome. But this one – which cost me $1, I might add – really touched me. I knew I had to do something with it.”

“We are grateful that Benjamin has a sincere passion to fight slavery and other terrible abuses of children around the world at such a young age. We admire his commitment to raise resources on behalf of the oppressed,” said Amy Lucia, Vice President of Global Communications at IJM.

The Agape International Missions Team adds, “Hope brings an energy to our dreams and longings. Benjamin’s story about hope will be a source of great encouragement to many in hopeless situations. We are grateful to Benjamin for his desire to help those who need this hope and help. Through God all things are possible, and His hope and His people, like Benjamin, can make the impossible possible.”
