Peterborough Garden Park Wins National Award for “Best Out-Of-Town Development of The Year 2010”
The growth of the home and garden retailing sector, and the increasing popularity of garden centres as a leisure destination, was underlined at the recent British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) Gold Awards in London when Garden Park Investment’s 100,000 sq ft Peterborough Garden Park scheme was awarded with the Best Out-of-Town Development Award 2010.
London, United Kingdom, December 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The 15 acre scheme, with 20 purpose built retail properties, opened in February 2010 and is anchored by a 50,000 sq ft garden centre (with an 80,000 sq ft external sales area) operated by Van Hage. Other tenants include; Cotswold, Hobbycraft, Past Times, Le Creuset and Cotton Traders. The nominations within the Best Out-of-Town category included Manchester Airport, Terminal 2 and The Avenue at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol.
Garden Park Investment’s Edward Olley says: “Winning this prestigious award, in the face of some incredibly high profile and tough competition, is a major achievement and we are immensely proud. The home and garden sector is changing and the Garden Park concept is one that is proving very popular with both retailers and the general public as it provides a high quality shopping and leisure destination that offers something for the whole family from children to grandparents.”
A few units, totalling 10,553 sq ft, remain available to let at the 100,000 sq ft development.
Peterborough Garden Park is building on its success with a number of festive attractions over the Christmas trading period, including a large outdoor ice skating rink that has been built by Van Hage within the garden centre, utilising an area normally used for external plant displays.
