Dena Burton Collection to be Featured in Calabar, Nigeria

Los Angeles-based fashion designer Dena Burton will present her national and internationally acclaimed collection, December 29th as part of the 2010 Mash Up the Runway fashion show presented by Destiny’s Child. This event will take part in the world renowned Calabar Festival, which is indisputably the largest and longest multi-dimensional, multi-faceted tourism leisure and entertainment programme in West Africa, boasting unprecedented yearly participation by close to 1 million people from all over the world.
Dena Burton Collection is no stranger to major events, having shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Miami Fashion Week and the Caribbean Celebrity Classic Golf Invitational Event in Montego Bay, Jamaica just to name a few. Her faux fur pieces, described as “bold” and “sophisticated,” have delighted critics and consumers the like.
Dena Burton Collection will grace the same stage as past and current participants from fashion houses such as Live Mechanics, Roc-A-Wear, True Religion, and Sean John. Last year’s show included performances from internationally acclaimed artist Wyclef Jean and popular Nigerian rap artists D’banj and 2 Face.
All proceeds gained from the event will benefit the Destiny’s Child organization, created in 2007 by Calabar, Cross Rivers’ first lady, Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke. Destiny’s Child continues to provide food and housing for abandoned children, pregnant and at-risk teens in the state of Calabar each year.
