New Website Combines Social Media and T-Shirts Into Fun, Profitable Contests for Users
As the social media craze continues to sweep the globe, a new company is utilizing its popularity with a unique twist, offering users an opportunity to customize apparel for their social network to vote on, and the chance to earn thousands.
Kirkland, WA, December 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As the social media craze continues to sweep the globe, a new company is utilizing its popularity with a unique twist, offering users an opportunity to customize apparel for their social network to vote on, and giving the winner the chance to earn thousands in commissions.
The company, humTeedumTee Inc, was started in July 2010 by serial entrepreneur Craig Rabin, who developed the idea while working on another start-up. Rabin is confident the mix of T-Shirts and technology is the key to success. The company launched just weeks ago by spending $10 a day on advertising and the community of users continues to grow daily.
“As I was brainstorming business ideas I recalled all the times I’d been out with friends and they said something funny. I’d always joke, ‘This should be on a T-Shirt!’ and that’s how this business was born," said Rabin, Founder and CEO of humTeedumTee.
The concept is simple; humTeedumTee gives users a starting Tee design every few days, users then apply humTeedumTee’s interactive software to customize the starting design by adding text, additional images from their library, or uploading images from a user’s PC. Once completed, users submit their designs and the community votes on it. This is where the viral aspect comes in: humTeedumTee offers ways to post a design throughout various social networking sites with a click.
Once the competition is completed a few days later, the design with the most votes will go on sale and the winner will receive 10% of the revenue, up to $2,500. As soon as a winning design is made available for purchase, a new starting Tee design is posted and the competition starts over again.
Although online sites exist where users can submit Tee designs for money, only humTeedumTee offers a competitive arena for even a novice designer. “I love that users can customize their own Tee without having to know anything about graphic design software,” said Rabin. If a user doesn’t win, they can always participate in the next challenge just a few days later.
The winning Tee is sold in both Mens and Ladies lines in a variety of colors and costs $18 (which includes shipping). Another aspect of humTeedumTee that sets them apart from the rest, is their concept of Going Green Tee’s. “We’re proud to be the first community apparel site taking care of our environment by offering only 100% certified organic cotton shirts,” said Rabin. “It may be a site based on competition, but this way everyone wins.”
